The Balm! is a healing lip balm made by us. We’re entrepreneur students in the Rochester Roots Bringing Ideas to Life afterschool program.
Our entrepreneur team is: Ana (12) & Siblings Ryan (12), Rachel (10) & Joey (9)
The first lip balm was created by Ryan and Ana. After they graduated from the Montessori Academy Ryan’s brother & sister Joey and Rachel took over making the lip balm. Ryan initially got the idea to make lip balm, and both he and Ana did surveys to come up with the name, the fragrance and the ingredients for their product. Most people liked the name The Balm! and the Pink Grapefruit fragrance. Due to some people having allergies to nut oils, we decided to use olive oil and make it nut free (except for us – we’re nuts!) We grow the calendula and yarrow flowers in our RCSD Montessori Academy learning garden using organic growing methods.
Our product contains the following ingredients: Calendula infused olive oil, yarrow infused olive oil, beeswax and pink grapefruit essential oil.
In 2016 and 2017 we worked with The Rochester Institute of Technology Multidisciplinary Senior Design Team to engineer a Lip Balm Assembly Line to process our product.
