- Community-based agricultural programs create job training, employment, entrepreneurial business opportunities, neighborhood reinvestment and community empowerment;
- Urban agriculture encourages food-related activities that build community, foster civic engagement, celebrate Rochester's multi-cultural food traditions- increasing public participation in the food system;
- Building a local food system encourages private investment of capital, expertise, research, and technology from entrepreneurs, non-profits, food growers, distributors, and academics engaged in the food system;
- Urban agriculture proposes environmentally responsible land use, local food production, waste reduction, & sustainability.
